4 to 5 lugs
Early series V8 mustangs came stock with 5 lugs If your engine was swapped in there is probably a mix of parts. a lot of parts interchange and can be made to work from the ford small cars of that time periof. Mustang Falcoln fairlane plus later Maverick. Comet Granada Monarch and the Lincoln versaille . There is a lot of specific info posted on the mustang falcoln fairlane sites. also info on how to convert to rear disc brakes using ford explorer . later lincoln town car and fox mustang parts.
those brake parts were common to other years sometimes you can go to a good parts store that has the books and some have a listing in the back of what the part number fits. another way is to go to NAPA or some other web site and check the part numbers for your car then try comparing those numbers listed for something like a fairlane mustang etc .. I have done that when trying to find parts that will work from the wrecking yard.

I have a 66 mustang with a 289 and wanted to convert into 5 lugs from 4. would really like to get some ideas on what are the parts i need and what other i car i can get off of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.I recycled the Mustang II for a Maverick 5 lug
Thanks everybody for the great information. I sold the Mustang II 8" rear end housing, axles, and brakes and found a 1974 Maverick complete rear end. It is very close to the same width, has 10" brakes and 5 lug axles. Any thing special I need to know about this? Are the brake parts unique or will they interchange with other Ford brakes? Thanks Les

its an 8 inch from a 65 mutang, I think they have a drain plug in the back of the case.
also the tube comes out of the centre portion and tapers from 70mm to 60 at about 190mm = 8 ish inches
if its a mustang 2 case, the tube comes out at 70mm but tapers to 60 much sooner - about 3 inches

as said above, the brakes are finned nine inch internal diameter
the bolt pattern is 4 on 108mm
the bearings are the same, but the layout of the retaining plate differs.
the 5 lug nine inch internal drums are from the ford ranger, bronco 2 and aerostar.
i think the stang 2 is 56.5 and the mustang 65 is 57 inch wide, they are both centred pinion axle small bearings 28 splined.
the mustang 2 rear bearing housing is unique to the 9'' brakes
note the 4 holes-retainer, are not layed out 'square' like that small bearing 10 inch brakes.

some maverick 6 cyl also used 5 lugs,and had front Disc brakes early 6's used 4 lug.

I have the third member date code id plate. WDY-AA ( a 70's Mustang I think)7KC (?) second line reads 3. 0 0 8 (3/1 ratio and an 8") 2 4 6 D (? a date code?) Is there any other date codes on axles or? I wonder if the third member and axle housing are different years. Thanks for your help. Les
