5window Thanks, Dave. I think we have it worked out. I was trying to avoid the issue, but we were having a ton of trouble getting the trunk lid positioned since its "square" is not exactly the "square of the assembled body.

I looked at some '35-36 hinges, also so Chevy hinges and they don't look too bad on an A, but I am grateful we're not having to go that route, especially since I won't need to spend the $100-175 on new hinges. Jeff

I don't have a "stock" place to relocate the original hinge pin-it's more or less a welded washer system. I am having a lot of issues realigning the trunk lid into the slightly off space created by the original re-assembler of my coupe.

The idea was to use something like 35-36 hinges mounted to the top of the deck lid, but I am looking for other options.
A simple pinned hinge will not work. The geometry will require that as you open the trunk lid it will have to move rear wards and unless your car was reassembled really crappy, the trunk lid will interfere with the drip rails. Other options are to use something like this - hinges - but misalignment, that needs to be corrected in the body assembly as a different hinge system wont be a fix for that - and for an 'A' - just about every part is available aftermarket.

I can't imagine, and it's only my opinion, how misplaced a set of external hinges would be on an 'A' - but then it's your car and choice.

Irelands child You will be opening yourself to a lot of fab work to remove the trunk internal water drip rail . My question - why as the "hinges" normally are nothing more then a pin screwed through a steel on each side and a reinforced area on the lid. And while crude, works just fine.

Then you get into making lid reinforcements and figuring out some way to attach them to the inside - that inside has a separate skin as well.

This early before paint photo of my roadster, coupes are the same, will show that drip rail and the lid reinforcements. the inner skin and the lid lip - there is no rubber weather stripping, only the rails.

Exterior hinges on a Model A trunk?

I would like to hear about, and see pictures of any Model A coupes using exterior trunk hinges instead of Henry's original side hinges. What did you use and how much work was it to get them parallel, braced and fitted? Many thanks.
