Get a pair 600 cfm VS 1850's Holley. there are other guys out there that got great result with the 600 Holley. It's not nessary to run two electric chokes. You only need one setup for easy cold starts. Make sure you install balance vacuum line for uniform secondary operation. Hope this helps.
I am about to put a tunnel ram on one of my BBs with two 500 eddies.I just like the cool factor of them but have a friend running one and that rat honks.Let us know how it works out for you.
You hear a lot of down talk about them and a lot of good but the way I see it if your are not willing to do some work tuning it's not worth the effort and I for one love a good challenge.
I`d use a couple of Road Demon Jr. 525`s. They have a nice look to them plus they have annular boosters which is far better than any straight leg or down leg booster.
even tho it is a BB, becarefull not to over carberate, seems thats one of the biggest mistakes guys do when running a TR for the street is over carb the engine.. As mention, two 600 VS or even two 500 VS should do just fine
I ran the Weiand T-ram kit from Summit and I loved it. I had no problems. Never really even tuned the carbs, pretty darn close out of the box. Just make sure you have enough stall (3500 for me) and mine liked the timing locked out. 2 600 Holleys, no choke and no vacuum pods. Ran great, I just removed it for a blower.
I have thought of the cutting the hood thing. I have a lift off hood Harwood hood, so I can run the thing and see if I like it before the opening has to be made. I was just on the phone this last week talking to Joe Sherman about the whole tunnel ram thing. He likes them and says they can be a magical 100 hp add on. I will not be buying any demon carbs, basically because they are out of business and I owned one once and that was enough.
This is based on my 540 with afr 335 cnc heads at 720 or so hp without it. I bolt on the tunnel ram and I could see up to 100 hp gain. Maybe 75 or 105 or who knows. I will have to dyno it both ways.
This is a follow up on the tunnel ram that I bought and motor combo. The engine ended up being a 540 with AFR 335 heads at 10 to 1 compression. Edelbrock tunnel ram with 2-750 QF carbs works awesome with timing locked out at 34*. As far as things changed on the carbs I removed the jet extensions and idle feed jets are 30.
