I have just recieved an 84 Chevy Camaro that has no engine. I would like some help in choosing an engine that will be plenty fast as well as economical and easy to install. Plus this car will be driven around town a little so a streetable engine would be the best. Any suggestions on type of engine and where I can obtain information on the particular swap would be great.
Thanks
I would have to say that a SB 350 would be perfect for you....both economical and yet are easily modified....easy to drop in and looks good too....please note that the more you do to the engine usually has a negative affect on your gas milage....Mike
First you need to find out if it was a v-8 pr v-6 car originally. After that if it was a V-6, you'll need to go to the salvage yard and get some V-8 motor mounts. Also a different tranny if it was a V-6. if it was a v-8 car to begin with just put in a crate 350 and your good to go. most crate 350's are 220hp stock but if you want more power than that the upgrades are resonably priced. Chevy 350's are the favorite.

I don't normally say this since I hate the "highly overused" 350 chevy. But that would probably be your best bet. But 220hp out of a small block is pathetic. You should be able to build an engine for real cheap and get atleast 1hp per cubic inch without any problems.
