im assuming this is a drag car,the 1.76 planetary will handle a lot more than the 1.82 carrier but they do hold up ok with a small block.besides a input shaft and high clutch hub a manual v/body and a dual ring servo.i would run a 6 clutch direct set up.there are some pump mods that should be done cooler bypass circut plugged,larger lube holes and converter charge mods also machining the stator for a roller bearing.check out TSR RACING.com the owner is a friend carl monroe he has a very good book on modifting powerglides and he has any parts you will need

Depends on the power you are using. Weight of car? Use of a transbrake?
