tilt steering column

I have the column ready to install in a 87 camaro without tilt or the sensor on the key, I was going to connect the main harness to the tilt column to see if the car will start , since my car is a 87 it is not wired for a chip on the key , by just connecting the main harness it should start right

chip sensor on tilt steering

I have a tilt column off a camaro with a chip on the key , What year did the
chip come out ? Where is the serial number on the column ?
