Did we have the same first car?
Mine was a light blue 1956 Ford 2-door sedan. I still have it.
In fact the last car I bought was a light blue 1956 Ford 2-door sedan.
It seems like I've answered this question before in another thread with pretty much the same title. Talk about Deja Vu.
1962 Chevy 2 Acadian, ugly red + white......but it had "love lights" under the dash and fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. $50.00 from my cousin. Also had 2 doors too many so there really was no hope for it. One of the back doors came off when a buddy opened it while we driving down a bumpy dirt road......so it was a 3 door sedan until I got it home. The old man towed it away himself that evening. The next day my mom got a big Buick and he tossed me the keys to the Plymouth station wagon......another butt ugly car....but it worked.
I bought the 1956 only about a 1/4 mile from home. Had never driven a stick car before so I was glad the trip home was all down hill. I just started the car and was able to get it out of the seller's yard. Keeping the clutch in I made it home. Proud as could be I went into the house to have my mom and brother come out to look at it. My heart fell to ground when they came out and there was what looked to be 50 gal. of oil running down the road from my new car.
My very first car, a 1927 model "T" coupe. Sold it before I Got it done. Next was a 1927 Model "T" Roadster which I built and drove when I was 13 years old. That was back in 1957, I also had a 53 chev to drive in the winter, had a hopped up GMC truck 6 in it.
Hopefully this is meant to be ironic. My first car was a 1977 Chrysler Lebaron in that ugly metallic pea green. Only Chrysler product i've ever owned. I drove it once and traded it for a 1984 Caprice Classic. As far as I'm concerned the Caprice was my "true" first car and it was a good one at that. It was so good, I still own it.
Without pictures I have no real proof but I think I may win the prize for the ugliest first car. Mine was a 1960 Plymouth Valiant with a silver paint job that had oxidized all the way down to bare metal in some places. That car didn't even look good when it was new!
To add to this insult, I bent the driver's door so bad (another story) that I had to replace it. The only door I could find was a blue one from a Dodge Lancer. While the door fit the door frame, the trim on the Lancer was different than that of the Valiant. So I not only had a different color door, the trim didn't match. It kept the rain out though!
Anyway...it was mine....it ran and it was amazing how many friends, including girls, wanted to ride in it.
51 chevy 2 door sedan or slope back whatever people called them anyway it was Black. went from it to a Butternut yellow or whatever color it was called 67 mustang 289 3-speed manual trans with power brakes. wish i still had it.
My 51 even had the visor over the windshield.
Cole
Oh and i have had several blue cars and trucks through the years.
Yeah, It was a 1966 Bel Air and the year I owned it was 1976.Senior year of high school. I made the mistake of selling it and buying a crappy dodge,(it wasnt a good car) (not bashing dodges) then lucked out and traded that for a 1964 Le Mans in need of some work.
Got the Le Mans up and running in a few days and was smoking tires for days after that. That car was a beast.
Here is my 64 I own now.Its a work in progress, I have a windshield going in tommorow.
'56 2door chev. black 265 2-bbl. 3-speed/over, that my older brother & I bought jointly in '63. Had 87000 miles, paid $250, really loved that car till I rolled it in '65.

Naw, bro, I gotchya beat. 1976 Plymouth Volare 4 door, reddish brown metallic, holes in the trunk with a /6 that had a burned exhaust valve and a shot 904 T-Flite that never shifted right despite being rebuilt. Did my first cylinder head r&r with it, and after I convinced my old man that milling the head and giving it a 3 angle valve job was the way to go, and getting the valves set right in auto mech, that ugly box became party central. All those square surfaces and glass were great for acoustics, so the crap radio and speakers sounded like a dance club. $650.00 plus tax and time. Had dreams of a small block and some gears, but it would have been street raced, and my late pops knew it.
Cheap gas, good times.
And plus infinity on the girls willing to ride with you! Didn't need what you need now if you were on the pull. Just 4 wheels that could be trusted and a radio!
