chieftain If you don't have any experiance with kingpins but can take the front end apart safely( I don't know what your skill level is) I would take the I beams off with the spindles and drop them off at a machine shop. Let them bother with taking them apart and setting them up correctly.

And I offered it. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but honestly, I was helping. This isn't the best of job to learn on as mistakes can be COSTLY. I've been doing front end work for 30 years and blew up a balljoint (it EXPLODED) about a week ago. I wasn't even using that for my example. Brakes, front ends (it may be pre-loaded, it may have other issues) we can't see what you're doing so we can't point out that "gotcha" you may not know about or we may not remember to warn you about. If you were halfway through it and hit us up with "this part is stuck, what next?", we can help, but asking for help with the wheels still on it is a sign of potential problems.

T-bucket23 its a lot of work. The first problem is usually getting the locking bolt out. Once you get it out it usually requires a BFH to drive them out. The new bushings will most likely need to be fitted using step reamers or a hone of the proper size. I am an advocate of doing things yourself. This is a job that requires special tools and is a lot of work. If you dont have all the stuff to do it, bring it to a truck place, they do kingpins all the time.

This is not a fun job - I had a '79 that needed them. Been a long time and CRS has taken over so I would suggest you go here and ask. These guys are pretty current on all ages and styles of Ford pick ups and is where I go when I have a question on my '06 F350.

You're in too dangerous of territory to get internet advice on this one. If you don't know, you'll live longer to pay to have it done. A loose steering part isn't a good place to learn from mistakes.
