DanTwoLakes The sail panel blanks will have the holes for the clips already in them. All you need to do is put in the clips, line up the clips with the holes, and pound them in.

lngliv3 Thanks again for the info DTL, i see the clips hanging in the sail panel area, now to just find the right sail panel blanks. The ones you showed a picture of are similar to the ones ive been finding as well. The only problem is, none of the blanks have an area to hold these clips in the board...? None the less, youve great help, thanks again.

DanTwoLakes From your pictures, it appears that your car has separate sail panels. Your headliner goes down as far as that horizontal metal bar which should have cardboard in the center to staple or tack to. The sail panel is held in place with panel clips to cover the rest of that area. The rear of the sail panel is open, and the fabric is glued around the rear window opening. There are still two panel clips sticking out on the driver and passenger side sail panel area, just below the horizontal metal strip. I did a '69 Camaro a couple months ago that was the same way. I can't see any way to attach windlace around that edge next to the rear side windows. That has me stumped. It almost looks like there should be some rubber trim or something like it there.
You're going to have to find a Chevelle that has a headliner in it and take some more pictures.

I did some internet checking, here are the sail panel blanks:

lngliv3 DTL,
Thanks for the reply, and after reading some of your other posts, its obvious you know your stuff! Please allow me to pick your brain a little further. I brought my car to my home garage today to get some pictures of the areas im looking at. I can see what you mean about the windlace going all around the front door jam pinch weld areas. The spots that are throwin me off are the "tack" strips that go above the rear quarter glass, down around the sail panels. At this point, Im thinkin another short piece of windlace will do the trick, so now im focused on the sail panels...what holds them thin wafers to the wall? If you can see that "bar" going across the sail panel area? Do these hold the panels some how? Or are they just a tack area for the headliner behind the sails....?

DanTwoLakes The windlace goes around the door and/or window openings. There are gripper strips that screw in over the door and/or window openings, and the headliner is tucked under the gripper strips (which fit snugly up next to the windlace) to complete the installation. If you don't have gripper strips, you will need to find some or make some. Look at this thread which should explain things for you: HEADLINER TUTORIAL If you need to make gripper strips (headliner retaining strips) just ask.

'65 chevelle 2dr post headliner moldings?

Guys, Does anyone know what kind of molding goes along the sides of the headliner in a 65 chevelle 300 deluxe (2 dr post)? I have the rear window/windshield strips, but not even OPGI can tell me what seals the headliner along the side windows from the windshield back to the sail panels and down to the rear package tray in a '65. Some say its a piece of windlace? Plaese help, this is the only thing holding me up from starting my interior!
