i have a 77 nova with a moderately built 350 and a rebuilt t350. my problem is that my throttle kick-down has quite a bit of slack in it and my bracket is already as far back as it will go.. is there any thing i can do to fix this it doesn't shift down at all when you accelerate.

the kick down cable has a adjustment lock tab that you can adjust the cable with. its located where the cable snaps into the bracket on the intake.
have you verified that the kick down cable setting is the problem? with the accelerator to the floor, how tight is the cable? does it still have slack or is it tight and, cannot be pulled out anymore?
also, what rear gears are in the car, and at what speed are you trying to get passing gear? if geared too low and going to fast, you may be trying to get passing gear when its going to fast to kick down.

If your carb linkage for the trans cable has the long slot design in it.. you can install something at the end to tighten up the adjustment. A screw with nut will work to take up slack so the carb linkage pulls on it sooner
