Good morning
I need you advice setting up the lenght of a straight axle for my new project. Its a 1956 Merc Monteray Gasser 429 ford C6 and a ten bolt rear. I got the papers sorted out, the first time I drove it with 2" straight home made pipes I set off every car alarm on my block. It came with an old chevy truck drop axle 53 1/2 king pin to king pin , drum brakes and six lugs. The axle is no good bent, So I need to replace it with a speedway kit but what would be the correct one to choose.
This is what im working with 71" inside of fender to fender, 34" outside to outside of frame and the leaf springs are the same. Springs are 2" wide and 32" center hole to hole. Speedway has great info and a pdf file but I just thought I would ask you because right is right and I want it to be safe for me and my two boys. The front tires have to be strong enought to handle the extra weight of the merc and the 429 ford so thats it any info websites for advice is would be great, ill try to add some pics if . thanks for you help Laters Ben Nate and Nicky
