|Mach1460||I bought a brand new sanborn 80 gallon about 6 months ago. After the first couple weeks of using it the water came out a little murky/rusty and has ever since. Im in south dakota where we definately have a wild climate and weather from -40 to 105 with 100% humidity. Im not worried about it. You would think they would coat the inside of the tanks from the factory but then I guess we wouldnt have to buy a new one ever I drain mine every day ( id forget once in a while and go 2-3 days with out draining) Ive been told there is an "automatic" drain system that you can install and it will let out a spurt of air every so often, might be somehting to look into....|

I have just finished installing a compressor and air line in my garage. Used ½ “ copper pipe allows enough volume through to do most everything including sand blasting with a pressure pot blaster.
I incorporated one water trap a desiccant dryer and add a line drop with valve on it. One of the recommendations to take in to consideration is to slope your air line away from your compressor so as to not get any condensation flow back to the holding tank.

thank you for the reply.
my primary reason for the concern is - i am setting up a paint booth in my garage and i want to make sure that my filtration system is adequate (within reason
i am still learning what i need for air filtration.
i installed a desiccant system (see embedded image)
while re-doing the plumbing (1" galvanized pipe) for the new desiccant system, i noticed small / faint traces of rusty power / dust in the pipe. i am not sure where this residue came from. my assumption is that it originated from the compressor tank.

|Irelands child||It will eventually open up a pinhole somewhere on the bottom - but who knows when. My little 2Hp Craftsman 12 gallon 120V went to compressor heaven a couple months ago - it had been spitting rusty water for 20 years. I bought it in 1971.|

rusty water - when i drain compressor
i purchased my compressor used.
is it a serious issue if i see a small pool of rusty water coming out of the drain (at the bottom of tank) - when i drain it?
i drain the tank after EVERY use - but i suspect that the person who owned the tank before me - did not do the same.
