ok i have an old 1961-1963 chevrolet 283 small block and i had it all checked out the guy at the machine shop said that he was surprised at how great my engine was for how old it is when i took the pan off to my amazement every thing was tight and no slaping any where what i have tho is a short block with no heads now would 416 heads be good or bad thank u for your time
If all it needs is a re ring i would use what ever the machine shop recommended and.buy thru them. That is if you are having them do.the honing.
