chevy302builder18 hey thats not bad for a set of after market heads that flow 20% better than stock vortecs. If i had a deal like that, woulda took em too. I believe there expensive heads.

VARS_85MONTE I got them from a local machine shop that was trying to get rid of them for 250 bare. Home ported them myself. They look nice tho

chevy302builder18 How much are these EQ heads?

chevy302builder18 im thinking the compression is up even without a zero deck, the heads displace the 64 cc chambers so 9to 1 is a given. I say near or at 400 hp 450 ft pounds is a given on this combo.
Couldnt give exact dyno but this is my educated geuss (estimate) with the combo listed
peak hp = 390 to 400 hp@ 5500 to 5800 rpms
peak tq = 400 to 450 @ 3500 rpms. Hope this helps.

VARS_85MONTE Yes, we are using the stock rods but had them resized AND had bolts replaced with ARP hardware. The cast pistons came from Competition Products. Like I was saying, its just a nice toy for my nephew. Was hoping for HP/torque estimates and any budget minded help that's given.

chevy302builder18 this one way of putting something. Are you using the normal 5.565 inch rods and stock factory 'cast pistons'?

Budget Sbc Build

Hey Guys, back again, this time im doing a budget 400 build for my nephew.
This is by no means a race engine, high performance build, but simply a budget build for my nephew with decent power and good torque. I know there are a lot of sbc 400 builds but im looking for possible HP/ torque numbers. Here is what we are going with:

817 2 bolt block w/ arp main bolts
Cast crank 10/10
Resized rods w/ arp bolts
cast pistons
Balanced assembly
LUNATI 227/233 @ 50 (268/276) voodoo cam/lifters
Professional products air gap intake
EQ Heads(180cc) ported and polished
Flowtech long tubes 1 5/8
2 1/2 full exhaust w/ flowmaster 40 series
Turbo 350( 2200 stall)
Stock rear gear for now.

Was looking for comments/advice on this build. Not trying to put together a race car but a strong car a teenager. Hoping for a nice street car with some get up And go. Thanks in advance for comments/help and advice.
