|471A||Here also in Portland, I recommend a meeting and conversation with Mike McKennet. Mike and I are fellow Oregon State grads 1969, with Mike's degree being in Mechanical Engineering. Mike was an ME for Hyster for a few years, then gambled upon making his passion (metal work) his profession. Today, Mike's Restorations and Reproductions is among the nation's premiere restoration and rod building shops, based in Gresham. Give Mike a call, and mention that "Buck" said to contact him.|

Senior Level Mechanical Engineering student from PSU dying to get into the industry
Well, Somehow I made it.
I remember back freshman year in Calculus two think WTF have i got myself into. Now... that was a joke. Finally scheduled my final semester.
Currently a 3.5 overall GPA and a 3.85 Major GPA.
That being said i know automotive and motosport design is probably the most persude jobs in Mechanical Engineering.
Anyone hear an ME? Did you persue a job in the industry?
I have 50 resumes right now sitting beside my basically asking for an unpaid summer internship at every single race team (top fuel, alc, pro stock, ama motocross, nascar, chassis builders, engine builders, performance aftermarket part manufactures. EVERYTHING)within a 300 mile radius.
Only connections I have is my uncle is in marketing at hendrick racing and my good family friend is very good friends with Ron Capps, party with him every year at Maple Grove. So i dont really have much of an "in"... at all.
How can i make myself more marketable? Ill move on my dime, sweep floors for free and be a parts ***** just to get a foot in the door at some of these places.
Its pretty much all i want to do.
