|fellerdo||I was wrong, I have an 8.2" rear. How good is this 10 bolt? Im running a 275/50 mickey thompson e/t street on mono leaf springs. Its only been down the track once and ran a 13.03 @103 untuned, I was happy with that. Thank you for the link and help.|

Some Nova's started getting the 7.5" 10-Bolt in 76 for 6cyl. & 305V8 along with that wonderful TH200 Trans , other Yrs. only the 6cyl. got the 7.5" Rear. 72-75 was 8.5" only.
More Info>> http://www.novaresource.org/axle.htm
Over the Yrs. GM offered the Nova with about every size Rear available, 7.5", 8.2" 8.5" & 8.875"
12-Bolt/8.875" Rear looks like the 8.2" Cover but, with 12 retaining bolts.

|pontiacjosh||are you sure its a 7.5 and not a 8.5 cause i didnt think 7.5 came in novas just the 8.5 but like they said should be fine without slicks i have a 7.5 in my monte with a 385 stroker with about 500 hp and had no issues and been that way for about 5 years|

|cucumber1949||You could help the 7.5 by installing a differential girdle.|

|gerbsinmd||Yup, it'll last right up until you get traction. I've run a 383 in a Malibu for 5 years, high 12s low 13s, 1.9x 60' times with no issues. But no slicks either and leave the line just above idle. No issues with it yet, but I have seen guys try to run the same rear in a lighter car with slicks and a trans brake and it didn't last 2 trips to the strip.|

|SSedan64||How long it will last is up to you. Be gentle, no Slicks or sticky Tracks & it'll last a long time.|

how long will the 7.5 10 bolt hold up?
I just got a nova that has a 7.5 10 bolt with 3.73 gears and locker in it. My 383 has roughly 425-450 hp at the crank, th350 and 3500 stall. I know it s a pathetic rearend but it was in the car when i got it, how long will it last?
