|DoubleVision||the 300 horse 327 had 461 casting camel hump heads in the early years, flat top pistons, 10:1 compression, 1.94 1.50 valves, 160cc intake runners, a cam with 195 202 duration and 390 410 lift, this cam is still avalible in crane cams "blueprint" series. the L79 350 horse 327 had 11:1 compression, camel hump heads with 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust valves, dome top pistons, a aluminum intake, a Holley 585cfm 4 bll carb, cam specs were 222 duration and 447 lift. to duplicate the 300 horse 327 would be a safer bet, but you could build the 350 horse if you lower the compression to run on pump gas, get a set of good heads and a decent cam and intake package and your 327 will be a strong runner, these engines are known to be more revvers than torque engines.|

We are all on a budget. I know more of 350`s but an engine is an engine. All your BIG power comes from your cam and cylinder heads. Heads will cost you $1000. I believe you could get 50 ponies from a decent cam and exhaust. Keep your duration between 220-235, that`s a nice street cam. But you got to do the work yourself to save money, cams are only $100 bucks or so.

327 rebuild help
hey guys well I just wanted to know if anyone had the specs for the 327's that came in the vettes that were I think 300 or 350 horsepower. I have a 327 out of a 67 chevelle wagon and it's the 250 horsepower but I need to rebuild it. What I want to know is I plan on rebuilding it without boring it but I want to build it how the 300+ horsepower 327's were built so does anyone know the setup for those. Like the cam durations and everything that was stock on those so that I can setup my engine just the same way to get that many ponies... I am on a little budget so whatever input you can give me would be great. thanks again..
