|5window||Thanks for the suggestions. I also received one about using a gas door and hinge to create a panel. I kind of like that idea, being a hotrod and all and I'll see what's available at the scrap yard then pursue the hinge idea.|

You need something like a lid stay hinge. CLICK HERE
You will probably have to modify it a little, but it should work.

The panel I am looking at right now is a non-folding Bob Drake item for a 53 Ford. It, and the plastic panel that came with the heater, are approximately 3.5x 2.5" Picture two 3/4" knobs and a panel just big enough to hold them.
There should be plenty of space behind the dash-several inches at least and it will ultimately hang down at the center of the panel so a couple feet to the floor.

and how much room will you have for the mechanism?
will there be any size restraints on the area behind the dash?

Fold down instrument panel? Help,please.
I am making a wood dash for my Model A, roughly the shape of the '32 dash. I need to add a small panel to hold the heater fan and selector switches. I am hoping to come up with an idea that would let the panel rest at 90 degrees -essentially folded up behind the dash most of the time- but swing down and stay in place when I needed heater controls.
I can't quite fathom,or find, a mechanism to let me do this. I'd appreciate any input or sources. Thanks.
