Small Temporary Air Compressor

So, my garage wiring stinks.

It's wired into the kitchen circuit, and my normal air compressor (says on the motor it draws 17 amps) pops the breaker.

Not wanting to burn out the motor, or cause any issues (up to and including house fire), I'm in need of a 20amp dedicated circuit for the air compressor, ideally in its own fuse box in the garage. This way the kitchen circuit can be just for the kitchen, and no worries on having to flip breakers.

Long story short, I use an air compressor for general tire inflation, and I run an impact sometimes. My neighbor guy has a really small, quiet (diaphragm pump?) Campbell Hausfeld unit that offers about a half second on the impact before falling flat on its face and taking a few minutes to recover. Something that small is out of the question.

However, if I were to get a 'circuit friendly' compressor, I'd want to be able to at least break a lugnut loose before it runs out of air and needs to kick on again.

I prefer oil lubed units, but am open minded towards the noisy ones too.

My price range is about $100 or less, but if something awesome comes up that costs more, feel free to post it.

Any suggestions?
Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

To be honest, I would invest that $100 in having an electrician add a dedicated outlet. I ran my outlets myself after reading a Home Improvement Electical DIY Guide.

The problem with smaller compressors is obviously less output.
I was sort of thinking this (first part).

As for the second part, that's true for sure!
