So I have tired to do some searching around and can't find any info on what type of primer and paint combo needs to be used the rubber front bumpers of the second gen F-body cars. Any primers that anyone I know have used have peeled off within a few months and the BC/CC that they put on didn't stick to the primer. I have done a lot of reading on this forum and am going to attempt to paint my car on my own using a single stage paint. Not sure on the color yet but from what I have read I have got a pretty good idea of what kind of gun needs to be used and the technique, just need to practice on some old car hoods before I try and hit up my car. My car is a 81' Firebird with a 77' nose. Also will be taking the car down to bare metal as I can see at least 3 different colors it has worn over the years. If anyone can point me in the right direction with the correct primer and paint combo that would be great.

You have any good recommendations for one?

From what I have read people have had good luck with just the Summit brand paints and primers. I am not looking for anything that is show quality, or even mild-high quality as I will be doing it myself and this is one thing that I have not done before. I would just like the car to be one color for once, been driving it around for almost 2 years now with ugly pitted yellow/baby poop green color with a black nose, hood, trunk and spoiler..

I am planning to go a very similar route using Summit Racing paint products on my 79 Formula. I plan to go with the BC/CC but am very interested in hearing about your experience.

Did you end up using the Summit Epoxy primer? How is it holding up?

Any feedback on the rest of your experience with the Summit paint?
