I would recommend either...
the "basecoat candies" from custom paint manufacturers (which is a metallic mixed into a candy)...
or a production "tri-coat" color from a car maker.
Either of these will be far better, when you have to repair any future damage. A true candy is nearly impossible to match well.

Candy Apple Red paint codes
Hey guys, getting ready to actually have my car painted as the body work is almost complete, so now I really have to decide on a color...I was looking at a house of colors candy brandy wine but it is probably very expensive paint. It is being done with base/clear cut and polished. Do you guys have any other suggestions for a paint company? What about using a factory color code from a newer car? IF you guys can suggest some paint codes for candy apple red and show me some pics of some cars you own or have painted that would be awesome, paint is going on a 48 chev 2 door sedan, thanks!
