T Evans I've used a exterior door kick plate from Home Depot. They come in brass, brushed aluminum, brushed nickle, and some others. It runs about $12 to $35. Good luck, Tom

OneMoreTime If you make a new one you can contact cement the thin stuff to a backer plate and go that way if you wish..

Bonneville462 I ended up using a piece of hvac duct from Home Depot and brushing it with steel wool... Good enough for now. I want to use something thicker later on.. The stuff I used about 30 gauge and flimsy. I used black silicone for adheasive...

I like the simpler dash layout..

Bonneville462 Thanks for the responses..

The wood grain is connected to the upper finned chrome section. I like the idea of painting it blue to match the lower dash.. I see what you mean about it matching and looking like something missing... Thanks!

stich626 can't tell from the photo if that area is part of the rest of the chrome above it. is that seperate? if so.. why not remove it. and make a panel out of sheet steal and paint it to match the blue, making the lower part of the chrome dash a straight line.. cleaning up the look,,
the brushed alum will make it look like something is missing..

OneMoreTime What you can do is get a piece of aluminum flashing from the lumber yard and chuck a wire wheel in your drill motor and voila brushed aluminum..some good quality snips and now you have the piece you need..simple enough to do..BTW most of us make as many as many parts as we can as we are hotrodders..

Brushed Aluminum lower dash insert..

I want to remove the non operational radio and heater controls from my lower dash. Where the wood veneer is now (photo)..

Who can I get to make me a 30" x 2" thin piece of brushed aluminum plate?

Thank you,
Jeff
