123pugsy Got all the new seals installed and am now pre-loading the lifters. Hopefully, no more fouled spark plugs.

I need my truck running good for the upcoming project.

I spent my day cleaning and prepping the loose parts today. It is good to have a couple of coats of Epoxy on them and know they are protected.

Went back out today to grab a short side axle shaft, in case I want to narrow the 8.8" Ford. Also took my calipers and measured the flange bolt pattern on the ends of the axle tube. They are not a square pattern, but rectangular at 3.40" across the top two bolts, 3.09" across the bottom two, and 1.68" top to bottom spacing.
From what I have in my records, this bolt pattern isn't close to anything else. Big Fords are either 3.557" x 2.375" or 3.557" x 2.0"

"what I DID today, so I can WORK ON tomorrow"

Finally found a Plating Shop that I could afford (Airline Plating Houston, Texas) and after 3 weeks and $450, I drove an hour from the house and picked up my "newly" rechromed front bumper. I could not be happier and I know what I'll be doing tomorrow morning now.

The other pic was a Kodak Moment about 3 blocks from the Plating Shop.

You can also drop a 9" third member into a 9 3/8" housing without any modifications. So if you wanted to change ratios the 9" makes it much easier.

I have a 9 3/8 lincoln Disc rear under one of my T bucket projects. 5 on 5 pattern. I have always read that big lincolns and some of the big T birds were the 9 3/8 gears, but if you do some grinding on a big 9 housing you can get the 9 3/8 pumpkin in the large 9 .
Coorrect, and a 9" will go right into a 9 3/8 housing.

This rear is the correct width and is indeed a 2:50 ratio. i bought it very cheap from a friend and knew I would have to find a 3:00 gear set but was not aware of the funky brakes. I am still glad to have it.

I've had a Few over the years , somewhere I have a pile of info about them. I traded the last one as partial swap for the glass 32 roadster body. Not much interchanges with them. bearings, caliper brackets, pinion flange are unique. The Ford design sliding calipers tend to wear out one side of the rotor. whenever I have one apart I sand-buff and lube the mating sliding surfaces. They are narrow, can easily swaped into an early mustang. Most are geared around 2.50, one had a detroit locker. I ended up doing a couple 8.8 in the wrecking yard builds. Fox mustang 8.8, 2 short ranger 5 bolt axle shafts and Lincoln Town car rear disc,
