Was looking around for new mod for my truck and came across this found it very interesting if true. The video don't by a local talk web show! attracted there attention! to see what this guy is doing watch the video! like to here input Seems this is being use quit a bit all over you tube! going to do some more research! If true this is good news for fuel
I can't comprehend how a modification that affects the throttle plate just at idle or slightly open would have any significant affect on mileage beyond idling or just off idle. This groove thing can't have any affect on mileage at even steady 35 mph speeds, let alone freeway speeds.
Additionally the cleaning of the throttle body alone could easily make the engine run better, and feel better, so the more gummed up or older the car is, the more likely it will run better with even a simple good cleaning, regardless of whether a groove was cut or not.
I think it's a lot of smoke and mirrors and wont make any difference unless all your car does is idle.
That's the talk going around the fourms. A small few see merit in the concept saying when your cruising down the hwy your only using 1/4 throttle other see it as a seat of the pants feel for the quick throttle response on low end opening the throttle less to archive the same speed. All I can tell you is I watch it being done they did a relearn on the computer customer went out and drove it came back real happy! What does that mean I don't really know but I was give one for test and will post what I fine going to do some dyno runs mpg test before and after if it look good on a personal level. I also think that a change like this will need tuning work also to get the best results.
In one of my forums this site was pointed out to me to view the groove tech That are drawing comparisons! Just read through the data, The dyno testing is interesting. http://www.herningg.com/projects/groovyheads.html
As I start collecting data one thing one has to rememeber is the condition of the car or truck your working on. The testing equipment in that test. I'm using two scanners a Auto X-Ray EZLink and a newer Actron CP9185 both do obd1-2. The newer scanner when hook up and scanning runs the Idle up an extra 100-200 rpm's I down load new updated software which helped so now it only idling 100rpm higher. All the data looks the same from both scanners at the same rpm's so I will keep using it to print my data out.
First up we did a idle test with the two scanners recording a run cycle about 20seconds long at normal operating temp of 195. A driving test 45 mph and a freeway test at 65 mph. With this data we know the truck is running normal show no codes. On to smog testing next!
As I have been doing this testing I'm finding other company are doing something a long the same lines in throttle body spacers. Which is a little different but more examples that the process of grooving is said to work. Watch the video!
total BS. anyone with even a basic understanding of efi will understand that a groove under the throttle plate will do nothing to the idle (compensated for immediately by the idle air solenoid) and will have zero effect on mixture (immediately compensated for by the ecm). no effect on atomization either, as it's too far upstream to even see fuel. Looks to me like some here may have a vested interest in this scam. most likely make millions from the deal if prior similar scams are any indication.
Well I have quoted many sites on my post which stay this works well after the throttle plate. Feel free to read them and you could go to the www.gadgetmangroove.com web site and see for yourself. I'm just posting the facts on TBI and doing my own independent test to see if it work.
I'm working on testing but it cost money to run tanks of gas through ones truck. As of today I'm still working on my stock fuel numbers for city and freeway. I have not bolt up the modded TBI yet. You could go look on the gadgetman site to see what other are doing. I'm posting this test there too. My first tank of gas for my stock numbers was 12mpg on the 350 auto 1ton with a 4:10 gear city/freeway.
Been around a lot long that you! And this is not my first product test I have done here! If I was a spammer I would be telling everyone how great this product is. I Ask the question. So if you have any info or web site disproving this Idea I would sure like to see it to add to this information.
They still thing the earth is flat and the water runs off the edges.....
