EOD Guy Here's a dia for a old chevy, ext reg, type alt.

I actually made real parts by using a standard female clip which fits the blades perfectly.I put a "ring end where it attached to the alt.lug. On the blade furthest from the alt. lug I ran a wire with the correct ends to the toggle switch which sends power to the dist. when in the "on" position. I am sure I am missing something.Everything worked before I started the rebuild last fall. thanks for input.

T-bucket23 For short term you can connect the large post to the battery and jumper to both smaller posts. This will force it on. You could switch power to both small terminals and this will also work. You can buy those alternator pigtails for about 5 bucks.

no marks

I don't have any marking that say 1 or 2 so I hooked it up the way the diagram looked but the battery did not charge.Would it matter if the terminals were reversed?

EOD Guy large lug on the rear to the battery, terminal #1 on the alt to the run side of your toggle switch, terminal #2 on the alt to the large lug on the alt....... about as simple as it gets.

how do you do it alternator

My 1st gen. 350 SBC is on a run stand I made and the engine runs and all the wiring is right so far...but I want to hook up my alternator now and want the simplest most direct wiring I can use.I really don't want to take the wires out of my Z(which the engine is going in).I currently have two toggle switches(one for power to starter button and one to electric fan)Thanks
