hemi43 Here's the only interior pic I could find of my car. It's vinyl and I love it !! I hate cloth seats because I don't enjoy sticking to the seat. Leather would be great, but I could not justify the cost. I sewed my own interior and after 6 years and 20000 miles it's as good as the day it was made. My 2cents !!

Irelands child My DD F350 pick up has leather - and I love it. Since it's a light tan, it never gets too hot in the summer even with a black truck. The zero days in the winter can be chilly on the buttend for a couple miles - but my guess is you wont have that extreme. I opted for vinyl in my roadster - it WILL eventually get wet and rain can spot some leathers. If someone suggests Ultraleather - you might as well spend a few bucks more for the real stuff. Folks I talked to before I finally laid out my dollars for mine weren't overjoyed with that stuff.

trees I have owned leather upholstered cars since 1975. Started with a 1975 Chrysler Cordorba, then went to an 83 Riv, 84 Eldo, 88 Eldo, 01 Eldo, 03 Tundra,
and both of my street rods. They have been finished since 99 and 2000. There has been a couple of vinyls in there, but they could not hold a candle to the leather. All still looked good when I finished with them, most with 175+ miles. They have been the hot South Fla sun, South Texas extremes, Oklahoma extremes and Northern Utah. Never spent any time with them in the brutal Arizona sun, but regardless, leather has been and still is my favorite. Don't buy this too hard to maintain or too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter.

DanTwoLakes DanTwoWolfs here. A pickup truck isn't near as expensive to do in leather. A full size car would take at least 10 hides, but a pickup would only take half of that, maybe less depending on what you want done.

speedbump Good thought! I hadn't gone there.

ogre personally for extreme hot or cold i like cloth inserts for sitting on.
cloth will run you similar to vinyl and it's a lot nicer to slide into on a hot summer day

My frustration is whether to put leather in the interior or to use a quality vinyl. Leather is about twice the cost and, to be honest, I like the color of the vinyl better. I live in AZ where it's dry and hot. Leather needs lots of attention here where vinyl is more forgiving. To me, using leather is mainly so you can say "leather seats" when talking about the assets of the vehicle. I don't see a comfort or wear advantage but I don't want to be smart about this one thing when I've strayed into "stupid" this far in the build? Opinions from builders and upholsters please.
Just to get you started, you need to get a hold of Dan Two Wolfs. Just PM him I'm sure he will answer anything you need or want to know. About the Interior.
