4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

Well, not much done but I am still thrilled. The carpet is looking great and I am basically done with it. Now it's all about restoring a few pieces like the kick panels and getting them in there. The console that I restored a number of years ago needs some detail work as it has some shelf damage. :pain:

But all in all it's looking good!

Hech yeah, that looks perfect! Man that is a cool ride, I would buy a ticket to be able to see that tech from the drivers seat at 6500 or so, YEAH BABY!

The photo looks pretty funky, funny, I am thrilled with how it looks when I am looking at it. :D Tonight, first I had to mow the lawns. It's going to rain like a cow pissing thru a pole bridge tonight and tomorrow and my lawns were looking real bad. So after that I still got out in the garage for some quality time with my Gran Sport. Working on detailing my console and kick panels. I need to go get a few bulbs tomorrow. You need to pull the console to get to the tach light so I am going to be sure to have a nice new one in there.

One thing I found kinda sucks, I am ready to get this all in and I found that the shifter "slider" plastic thingie got broken in storage so I am going to have to get a new one or make something up from some plastic material. I have been wondering what I could find here in town and it just hit me as I am writing this, a cheapie three ring binder. You know the ones with the paper thin plastic covers, I am thinking that material is perfect. Think I'll head on down to the store and get one. of course I am thinking about a binder that we had 35 years ago when I was in school, do they still make them that way?

I saw that they had "PeeChee" folders still the other day so hopefully they have what I am looking for.

Whooo Hooo, I got the console in! The console, the sill plates and kick panels including cleaning them up and painting them and some work on the seats to get them in tomorrow.

And Check out how my idea on the shifter slider thingie worked out great using a three ring binder. :D

Whooo Hooo, I love seeing that tach in there. This is looking more like my old Gran Sport every day.

worked 1/2 of the day, building big raised planter boxes out of some plastic drums I cut in half, for the mother-in-law

ever since the father-in-law passed in 2007, we have been helping the mother-in-law with her garden (which means my wife now had 2 gardens to take care of)

so now this year she is getting a major down-size, and wont have to bend over to take care of her veggies

pics tomorrow when I finish them
