Just hope it's fixed. The truck seems like such a piece of junk with the noise and it's depressing to drive it.
Pugs, that's why God made the volume control on your radio.

You most think positive....and that does not mean you should be positive it will squeal either.

Maybe it's a bit premature. I took the bracket set off to paint it. It will probably squeal again after I assemble it tomorrow.

Melvin and I drove over to Charlie's today and I bought the 402. It has some light rust in 2 cylinders but I am sure it will clean up with a .030 bore. The pistons came out easily and everything is standard in it which leads me to believe it has never been down.

The timing gear is bad which I suspect was why it was parked 20 years ago.

The best part was Charlie practicaly gave me the motor, His wife fed us lunch, and Charlie plugged my tire that went flat in his driveway. Now, how much better can it get ?

Charlie had already pulled the heads, intake, and pan. We just knocked the two stuck pistons out of it to make sure the cylinders were not too badly damaged.

I was in the family van so will have to go back and pick it up in a couple of days.

Will get a couple of pics then.

John long I forgot to punch the holes in the floorboards to marry my trunk pan and floorboards so I got to drill a lot of holes tonight, deburr them and clean the E-coat so I can plug weld them together.

They are ready to go but that will have to be another day.

John

Thanks guys! You are a special bunch of guys on here! I look at that every day I go to the basement.

Stock chrome arms are very dated. It needs polished stainless tubulars with coil overs to be impressive anymore. Splined, tubular sway bars, 4-6 piston calipers with 13" discs. What that car has is ho-hum...

Buy an outer wheel house and fit it to the quarter and tub so there is something to weld the quarter to.

I removed a quarter skin from a '70 Chevelle last winter that had NO welds or screws holding it to the inner either. The inner was rusted away and they "re-shaped" it to look decent with fiberglass...
But all ALL the front suspension is chrome, doesn't that MAKE it a "show car"? LOL As far as suing them, from what I understand at least with the states Bureau of Automotive Repair "quality" is subjective, thus it really can't be judged. Now I had a judge do just that once "But on a Corvette?" She asked, LOL but it's pretty hard being he didn't have the work done, that's a little different.
