new question

So I can't seem to figure out what size fitting to use on the back of my edelbrock intake to use for the vacume. I figured out the carb one it's 3/8 and it will go to the brake booster but the one onder it on the back of the intake just under the carb coming out towards the dist. Anyone know what size this is? thanks, Steve

vatosteve So today I dropped in the motor using the 3.8 frame mounts and the mounts I bought from Rock auto to go on the 4.3 that match up to them. I had to relocate them on the frame but it looks like it will now fit right in. Should be able to drop it right in now. Thanks for the input people.

vatosteve I bought 2 sets of mounts, both the monte and the regal style. They sell 4.3 block mounts that bolt to the block and fit the buick frame mounts. They look to be my best bet. The monte ones are to tall and sit much futher forward. The big problem seams to be the block size difference. The buick block was much narrower and shorter in hight and length. So tomorrow I plan to unbolt the fram mounts bolt them to the motor drop it in and tack them to the frame. Pull the motor again and bolt them where I need to. This is what I was trying to avoid by finding a conversion mount kit but there seems to be none as they are to different in size. So just more work is all. Thanks

FmrStrtracer You need to remove the Buick frame mounts, and get a set of the Monte frame mounts and bolt them to the proper Chevy location, not the Buick location.

G body

So first off this is vato1971 this site wouln't let me back on as that user and I couldn't get tech help so this will now be me. Moving forward, of course a chevy 4.3 anything else would be silly and yes they did put them in a G body stock just not the Regal. They were in the 87-88 Monte Carlo with a 700R4. The buick has a universal TH200C so I can bolt it right up to the trans the problem lies in the fact that the 3.8 has the mounts all the way forward on the block and the 4.3 are about 3-4" back so the trans is either going to need to come forward or I will need to move the motor back. So this is a V6 to V6 swap just not as easy as I thought it would be. The buick engine is the oddest thing i've ever worked with even weirder than my Rivieras 455.
Thanks for the posts people I will be working on it this weekend seeing what to do.

joe_padavano A 4.3 what? Chevy V6? That's a completely different motor that was never installed in the G-body cars, so you will need some sort of custom frame mounts as well as the trans adapter.

GMCBEAST TransDapt makes a lot of swap kits maybe they have something in their line, I'm sure they have a website. Hope this helps.

motor mounts

I have a 1985 Buick Regal and hate the 3.8 so I took it out. I live on a pretty big hill and this thing would only go 25mph up the hill. I now have a completely built 4.3 but I don't know what motor mounts to use to get it all lined up to my trans and frame. I have bought 2 different kinds and neither line up with out major mods. Is there any or at least anything close. Thanks Steve
