|dinger||My buddy uses ski rope, he can get matching colors many times, and has a way of braiding them to wrap the ends instead of a knot. It's a very clean looking job and they last forever.|

|RHOPPER||Poncho, I have a similar setup on my 48F1 for the chains, except I encased mine in flexible plasitic tubing to keep the noise down. My latches are inside the roll of the tail gate. Simple and cheap!|

On my 76 I built my my own latches and used tailgate cables from a later model (they were available from the help section at the local parts store).
I cut off the chain holders on the outside of the bed and it came out pretty clean.
I figure I'll to the same on my 37 dodge

|poncho62||On my 51 Ford, I moved the chains to the inside of the box and made these latches to keep it closed.|

'37 pickup, what are you using to replace tailgate chains
I use a large Hardware Chain. www.grainger.com They have a lot of things we all could use. And they will do mail orders prepaid too with a Return Policy.
