Rack and pinion steering has less feedback than a gear box/. I have had the steering wheel on the Masey tractor jerk violently when crossing a ditch at an angle. , the newer Case tractor is hydralic only steering, No mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels. If you lose power going down a hill , no steering. , drop the blade or impement , tear up the road to stop.

We added one to my dads F-100 with the stock suspension to help with the drivability and it did make a difference.

|1ownerT||They dampen the feedback from the road. IMO, not something you would want on a rod but some like them on their luxurcruisers.|

|LATECH||My 64 pontiac had one on it. Not sure if it was factory, probably not. It originally had manual steering, thats probably why it had one. Has PS now|

some of the VW suspensions i used on dune buggies came with them. MY F 350 came with one. and they add them to Jacked up big tired 4 X 4's

|LATECH||It dampens the energy transmitted by hitting bumps or holes in the road, in essence it is a shock absorber.It forces the suspension to work at absorbing that energy more, so less is transmitted to the steering wheel, causing less fatigue Providing more comfort while driving|

Probably a steering stabilizer, obviously buick thought it was needed, the person[s] that engineers your '37 will have to decide !!

Purpose of shock attached to center link?
On my '95 Roadmaster donor car there is a shock attached to center link.
See picture that shows the shock attached to the center link just to the left of the pitman arm.
1) Can someone tell me the purpose of this shock?
2) For my '37 Buick I will have a much shorter center link (18.5" long instead of 36") Would it be important for me to include this shock in my steering on my '37 Buick?
