|Saito||Well, its stock 305 so I'll do one turn. I'll also do the "jiggle the pushrod up and down" method to find zero lash as opposed to spinning it. Thanks for all the help!|

Often if using the spin the pushrod method to feel for the 0 lash point
you end up way past the 0 lash point.
A up-down action on the pushrod while adjusting the rocker nut works a whole lot better. Make sure the lifter is actually on the heal of the cam lobe when adjusting each valve.
intake just closes, set the exhaust.... exhaust just opens, set the intake.

|speedbump||The common factory setting was 1 turn but it has been my experience that performance hydraulic cams work better with 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Your results may vary. The ABSOLUTE MOST IMPORTANT THING is making sure you are at zero lash before you adjust. It's easy to miss, especially with new lifters.|

|chevynut||I have always done it 1 full turn, 1/4 turn at a time pausing between turns. Hope this helps.|

Small Block Chevy valve lash
When you hit zero lash (by spinning the pushrod, etc.) during adjustment of hydraulic lifters, how many turns on the nut do you go past that point to center the lifter plunger? I read 1/4 turn, 1/2 turn and even a whole turn. So which is it? I've seen varying accounts in both forum post and servive manuals. Thanks.
