95 astrovan steering column quest.

LATECH, you have solved the problem. Since i'm new at this installation, I never gave a thought to using a cable, although I think somewhere on the back burner i've been aware of that as an alternative. Thanks for jogging my memory!!! A cable will be much easier to route around the obstacles to the trans.

Thanks again! I'm so glad I joined this forum!!!

LATECH If you change sides with it, do you have room for the linkage to be installed. Which way does the linkage have to be installed?
Putting the tab or lever on the right means the shifter will push down when going from park to drive. Will that work with your setup? You may have to flip the shift arm at the trans to get the desired action. You should check that first. If you have close quarters it may be better all around to use a cable setup.
I would think changing the "clock" posisition of the shift lever on the column would be simple as dissasembling and maybe a little grinding and re assembly.
Naturally the opening at the bottom of the tube needs to be moved as well as the lever.

95 astrovan steering column in 49 chevy pickup-lower shifting tab question?

I want to install a 95 astrovan steering column in my 49 chevy pickup. The shifting tab on the bottom of the column is on the left side near the driverside. Any suggestions on adjusting that to the right side or best way to fab. linkage to auto trans. I have original brake lever w/under the cab master cylinder in the way. Thanks for your help!
