1ownerT You won't have any luck in finding production numbers for a specific paint color/trim level/engine combo. At the time it was built, no one cared, they were built to use as a truck.

Good luck with your Hot Rod!

Bryan59EC 1970 Ranger XLT

Would be the "Top of the Line" in the light truck series.

2-tone paint would be the norm
side trim on the peak that runs down the side of the truck
rear side markers should have a painted on silver trim or chrome bezel as well.
perhaps a bit of insulation or sound deadener in the cab.

Under dash AC was common in the better pickups.
A Ford "Hang On" unit that would have been installed by the dealer.
Chrome trim on the tailgate even with the top and bottom of the taillight bezels.
Taillights would also have chrome trim.

Probably came chrome bumpers front and rear (not a step rear bumper)
Chromed grille and headlight doors

Chrome trim on the interior doors at the top and bottom of the door panels.
Woodgrained dash trim.

"RANGER XLT" at the rear just above the peak and even with the top of the taillights.

May have had cloth seats (Black) trimmed in red vinyl

Absolutely stunning pickups when new
I still think the 67-72 F-series has been the best looking pickup ever built.

And trucks can be hotrods----I have a few
454 1979 C-10 bought it new when I was still 18
454 1959 ElCamino----state says it's a truck
High Performance 289/4-spd 1965 Ranchero----state says it's a truck
and of course my wheezy 307 powered 66 ElCamino----state says it's a truck

Are you thinking ranger like the LITTLE truck? Because he has a REAL truck there with his 70. If he want to put it back together and you want to help, fine.
A young man with aspiration THESE DAYS should be embraced.Dont discourage him.
A black 70 f 100 with burgundy interior, sounds pretty nice to me, and yes with a 4 barrel, dual exhaust and some chrome wheels, we all could agree it is a hot rod.
It doesnt have to be a hotrod to help someone out ...does it?

1970 ford f100 ranger xlt questions?

hey there everybody, so my grandad (now 96 years young) ran merchandise from Denver to aspen 4 times a week in the late 60's/ early 70's, one day in 1970 while entering Denver his 55 ford half ton kinda wet itself and overheated so he towed it to the local dealer and spotted a 1970 ford f100 ranger xlt in black with a 360Ci and a 4 speed granny, he said put my 4 ply tires on it help me swap the canopy and you gotta deal.

It now belongs to my mother and i am in charge of getting it running and working, im 17 and know my way around a truck im in the process of replacing the fuel system.

so my question to you all is as my research has failed me is, what options did the ranger xlt consist of?

and if anyone knows production numbers of black 1970 f100 ranger xlt with a 360 4 speed manual with burgundy interior i would love to know.

i love my grandad and want to surprise him this thanksgiving by picking him up in the old girl.
