4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

Now that sounds awesome. Is this just a get together or are you teaching or is someone else coming to teach, what's the story?

I epoxy primed my top irons today and now I am putting some satin black on them. I have to say, between not doing this stuff every day anymore and my age, it is kicking my butt.

Its a get together with some teaching by myself and others that show up with experience.

We had 19 guys drop by Saturday and I'm not sure how many will drop by today. A great bunch of guys though and there were bowls being pumped out like crazy.

We got a pedal car, a lower valance for a MGA, a pair of 36 Chevy fenders for dent removal and a Pontiac (or Buick, I forget) Torpedo back deck lid that guys brought in to work on.

Glad to see you're getting the roof parts done. She'll be going together soon.

So I went out and painted header to the top irons that I messed up yesterday, all the other parts look great. I was going to start bolting it together then saw that I hadn't painted the bolts. So I did a quick clean up then sand blasted them and painted them. Starting to bolt it together will have to wait until tomorrow.

Right now, I am going to sit and watch the Giants beat the Padres and look for my son and his wife sitting at the Giants bull pen mound in the front row. They are going to have such a good time, I wish I could have joined them but my friend only had the two tickets (she has six season seats right there).

I washed and waxed the coupe yesterday, cleaned the garage while letting the wax set up a little, Sat. night was Late Models at the Bakersfield speedway, they put on a great show.

Sunday was planting tomato plants, tying up some Kiwi vines, cleaned out the garden shed. Then I went for a blast on my Yamaha V-Max, a good way to end the day, well BBQ pork ribs and TV was the end of the day. :D :D

Well, finished the meet and got the rod trailered home and back in the garage. A few things to fix after using a forklift to lift the body off and then back on to the chassis.

We had about a dozen guys (and Gal) show up for Sunday's festivities.

Man, am I pooped, but its in a good way. Nothing like meeting up with some fellow rodders and twisting some metal.

Left 3 trees just for good measure, the clay we brought in for base is like cement, really hard to work with.

Pulled the tank straps, going to have to weld them back together and go buy a new J bolt or two. Also some filter to carb line. Seriously wish I had just put in a later fuel pump. The 68 is a one year only piece. The return line function is handled by the filter. The later models the return is handled by the pump and there is no big filter almost in the fan belts. May well do it sometime soon, but for now I just want to get it going.

Finally got the picture from the get together with Ed Iskenderian off my old cell phone! Had to get a new phone today, so the Verizon tech got it off and sent it to my email. Not the best pic, but at least I got it! That's my Austin gasser next to the stage with Ed.

I would frame that if it were mine. Seriously. It would go in the shop.

I am so happy to be at a point again with the car that I can go out and work my five minutes. That's what I planned tonight, just go out and arrange bolts or something. One thing led to another and I got one side of the irons almost done. I am so damn lucky my brother had given me that other top iron set. There are different spacers, bushings and screws at every single point! I went and got one of the bushings and went and double checked and it was different than the one I was trying to match. Just a little different, I couldn't believe it. I had taken a ton of photos as I took it apart but without that other set I would be really sweating it.

I have the tap and die to chase the threads so they screw together real easy, a drip of oil on the moving parts and things are going real well.
