F-BIRD'88 The gears are way too low. get some 4.10's

ATI makes very good converters for both street and race.

The 3.08's will cause you to be "on the converter" way too long and create excessive converter heat. Its a mismatch for a high stall converter.
Not to mention the acceleration will be lame.

Get some 4.10's or 4.30's and then get a 10" 3500 stall for max street strip performance.

converter

with everything u said.. except the cam, i need to look that one up.. but if it's mild to smooth idle u'd be fine with a 2400 stall. i'm running a TCI and no problems.. the more rad the cam this higher the stall, the lighter the veh the higher the stall..

Need some help picking out a new Torque converter, TH350

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a good torque converter for my 58 Chevy PU. Its a hotrod street driven truck. I need to know what brands and lines are a good value. I plan on installing a temp controlled fan assisted trans cooler. Gas mileage is not an issue. I'm not sure whats in it now, but it will idle in gear at about 800, put it in neutral and it goes up to about 1300.

Its a 383 Chevy
TH 350
Single Plane intake
Predator Carb
Vortec Heads
XE 274 H cam with 1.6 roller rockers
Equal length fenderwell headers
3.08 gears with 25" tall tires

Thanks, Jordon
