I spoke to them at Comp Cams, They recommended the Xtreme energy # 12-769-8.
The only thing that bothers me about that particular camshaft is that's it's not ground on a billet core. or is that no issue.
Heads are Edelbrock Victor JR. 215cc. 2.08"/1.6 valves. I also do have a victor intake to match, but i feel that the dual plane intake might be better for my car because of those big heads, and that low stall converter.
I have also been looking at the 268 Comp Cams Magnum # 12-700-8, But i'm not sure if there are any gains to have for running a single pattern camshaft vs dual pattern on the street.
Also i do have a question regarding distributor timing, is it better to run the timing locked out vs mechanical advance, MSD Pro Billet distributor ?

You're at the limit for the stock rod bolts. Get ARPs for a little security.

Comp Cams mechanical roller cams
Go to Comp Cams website to use CamQuest software. Part# 12-769-8 grind# XR268R would give you 361.8 hp @ 5000 rpms and 413.9 torque @ 4000 rpms. XR274R 12-770-8 would give you 367.5 hp @ 5500 and 405.3 torque @ 4000 rpms. If buying the kit add a K in front of the part #. Comp. list the kit for $955.06, this includes cam, lifters, springs, retainers & locks, push rods, and timing chain & gears. A mechanical flat kit K12-677-4 is similar with peak hp 361.4 @ 5500 and peak torque 400.6 @ 4000 priced at $451.30 with same parts included in the mech roller kit above.

|ap72||heads are mismatched for the combo but better than the 624s. if go bigger on the cam if you can get more converter. and go roller if you can, mechanical flat if cost is a concern, you need all the lift you can get on those big ports.|

The 1974 350 block with 4 bolt mains is a good start. But you don't say whether you had the block to a machine shop to be checked. I also assume you didn't have the rods re-sized since you mentioned stock rod bolts. Nothing wrong with stock cast pistons if you checked them making sure they are not out of round or cracks between lands. Intake is fine for 200cc heads. 215cc heads recommend a single plane intake. XE268 cam is small for the heads and converter. Also my opinion the 1 5/8 headers seem small for the 215cc heads. Holley 750 is good. With your setup on bottom end I would not rev over 5500 rpms.

|monzter||I also have a set of cast iron heads #624 that i could use, to get sone low end power. because the aluminum heads might be to big for the street. If i would use these cast iron heads i would need to mill them to get similar compression ratio as i would with them 64cc heads. Does anybody know how much milling is needed to shave off 1cc ?|

350 chevy final touches
I have a 350 chevrolet engine thats going into my Chevy Monza. This will be mildly built street car that i would like bring to the strip sometimes. The information on the car is following.. It's 2800 lbs and has 4.11 gears and spool. It sits on 275/65-15 tires and the transmission is th350 that has shift kit and 2400 stall b&m holeshot converter.
Engine is a 1974 sbc 350 out of a Blazer. The block is 4 bolt mains, the rods are stock with orginal bolts. It has stock cast dish pistons. But the short block is recently assembled and in good condition. Compression will be 9:1 since i will use steel shim head gasket and 64cc aluminum heads 215cc with 2.08"/1.6" valves. 1.6 roller rocker arms. The intake manifold is edelbrock performer rpm, non air gap version. On top of the intake manifold is 1/2" phenolic spacer and a holley 750 cfm dp carb. The engine will have 1.5/8" long tube headers with dual 2.1/2" exhaust with flowmaster 40 mufflers. As you may have noticed i haven't purchased a camshaft yet. I have been looking over that for the past few days. And like the comp cams xe268 hydraulic flat tappet camshaft for my strong street application. But would like to get your advice about my engine build.
