Well they work fine, most 305 heads don't let you rev past 5k , and I easily rev my engine to 5500rpm, it seems to want to rev higher but I never take it above that

i just bought a pair of 305 heads casting number 601 that had been ported, fitted with 202 160 stainless steel valves, new seals, and new 500 lift springs for 380 a pair
combustion chamber size is 58cc and i'm very pleased, a lot better than my 76cc smoggers

|ryan v||What are a set of 186's worth i'm pretty sure they aren't cracked but they do need new valves? I'm not really wanting to get vortec heads because i'd have to get a new intake. I'm on a real tight budget so im trying to save as much money as possible.|

|ryan v||so i'd probly be better off stickin with the 993's and just runnin flat top pistons? i don't really wanna dump a bunch of money into 305 heads when i got a set of 186's that need redone. It sucks being broke. lol|

The 434 305 heads have small valves and crappy ports. The chambers are around 60cc. Don;t expect much power in stock form. The cr will be higher than with the 993 heads. Use premium gas.
The best 305 heads to use on a 350 are the 4416 or the 601 castings.
best with full home porting and 1.94x 1.60 valves.

305 heads or 350 heads on sbc 355
i'm looking into rebuilding the 355 in my 87 chevy truck. It currently has a set of 993 heads on but i got my hands on a set of 354434 heads off of a 305 that came out of a 77 chevy monza. The truck wont be used on the road its set up for a mud truck. i won't be doing anything to the heads other than putting heavier valve springs on so i can run a bigger cam. Which would be the best choice to use?
