v-6 to v-8 and vice-versa mount differences:
Can you tell me in great detail what differences, if any, are there when you are converting from a chevy v-6 to chevy v-8 OR switching from v-8 to v-6?
So that we are all talking the same thing, let's define a few things:
1) We are dealing with ONLY chevy small block engines, so both the 6 and 8 are 90 degree small block engines. We are not concerned (at least not yet) with buick v-6's or the chevy 60 degree v-6, or inline 6's.
2) For sake of discussion let's say that the ENGINE MOUNTS are the clamshell mounts that bolt to the side of the engine. FRAME MOUNTS bolt to the frame at or near the front crossmember.
Can you use the same mounts or do you have to move the frame mounts? Will it all drop in?
