I think Chevy still had a beam axle as an option in 39, there is some difference in frames, but a pick up axle from later years would be easier to find

|Too Many Projects||The top one would work with any frame width, as the perches aren't welded yet AND I could put the axle on top of the springs and drop it another couple inches... I hadn't thought of that last night when I was looking at them. I haven't bought a car yet but am quite serious about getting one. Just getting an idea what it would cost to build a rod to my specs from a stocker. I would prefer a "done" car but no one has made one just the way I want it at a price I can afford.....|

What you are looking for is a "semi-elliptical" or "parallel spring" front Axle it's what the Chevy trucks of the day used. Ford used one "transverse" spring axle where most everyone else used the "parallel" spring axle with one going with the frame on both sides of the frame.
The one pictured with springs is for a "Gasser" style so it isn't what you are after. But the other may work, it's from a 47-53 Chevy pickup. That along with some springs that are available to lower it, you can get it right down there where it belongs. Straight axle available ?
I'm looking a '40 Chev coupe and I would really like a straight axle under the front. The catch is, I don't want the front to sit in the sky. The only drop spindle axles I see have the elliptical spring across the front. Is there a drop axle with dual leafs in-line with the frame ??
