34 Plymouth Streetrod with 700 R4 trans shift problems

Hello: I have a 34 Plymouth Streetrod with a 700 R4 transmission. The transmission was shifting ok until recently. The last time I took it out, the transmission would not upshift correctly. I had to have the RPM's around 3000 before it would shift from first and another 3000 RPM to shift from 2nd to 3rd. It will downshift OK, the reverse works and I checked the TV cable and it appears to be OK. Any help in this situation would be greatly appreciated. Nathan
