|rambler454||i would like to keep my rear suspension it would be nice if the 5 lug axles fit in my rear end housing. or maybe weld my mounts on the new rear end. i don't know.|

From experience I know the that the rear of the ladder bar frame is (if I remember) 4.75" wider on the 60-63 models than the 64-66. I know this from swapping a 62 gmc long bed stepside for my 65 chevy long bed fleetside.
What I don't have experience with, but have heard before is that the front crossmembers of the 73-87 trucks will swap on to the 64-66 bodies with the widening of one bolt hole. I have not performed this swap myself, and did not have the opportunity to measure the 62's front frame when I was doing the bed swap. I would suggest measuring this distance between the frame rails on both vehicles in the front and go from there.
Also, I'm curious as to why you would like to trade the trailing arm setup for a leaf spring setup?

62 gmc frame
i got a 1962 GMC short bed all original. i hate the torsion bar front suspension. i bought a 76 Chevy long bed to convert to 5 lug. can i just unbolt the front suspension out of the 76 and bolt it up to my frame? plus the rear on the 76 is leaf so i want that on my 62 as well. would the just be a weld in deal?
