spacytracy The "plug" on the end of the heads is actually a glued on tag that is intended to melt and fall off should the owner overheat his engine following a rebuild. If the tag is off following engine problems, the rebuilder will void the warranty claiming abuse.

Engine Id numbers

Anybody willing to help with ID'ing the engine that has this partial VIN & engine code stamped into the front right pad?

Cannont get it narrowed down to one fairly positive answer.

So far, research on the engine number has show as posibilities:

65 Chevy full size
67 Vette
69 Camaro, Chevelle or Nova.

The partial VIN is of no use as nothing I have found has the double "LL" before the unit production number. Only thing I am certain about is that whatever this was, there were 32205 made before it!

The block casting #3858180
Head casting #3890462

Also, the end of each head has what looks like a plug or insert of some type, I have never seen anything like this either, any idea what those are??
