Chevy vs. Ford
Here's more photos of my green 49 Ford vs. Chevy. The earlier photo of red truck may have been Ford. But this one is for sure Chevy. As you can see, the Chevy looks more streamlined, more for your city slickers. The Ford is a working man's truck. Chevy is cool, but Ford is tough.

Red is Chevy!
Red is Chevy. I've attached another photo of the Chevy from the tailgate.
As you can see, it says 'Chevrolet'. I've read from Ford archives that Henry
Ford used better steel to fabricate his vehicles. Don't know if this is true
but it'd be worthwhile to see if Ford trucks have withstood time better than Chevy or Dodge.

Good heavens, not being much of a truck guy I never realized how close the two pickups were in design. There really isn't much difference, is there?
Sort of like all this modern day Japanese iron - or is it plastic now - that's floating around. You can hardly tell one from the other.

Ford pickup or Chevy?
I own a 49 Ford with a 351 Windsor under the hood. I never considered a Chevy of same year but I saw one at a car show and it looked real good. I like the way Chevy streamlines their fenders and front hood.
I'm not a mechanic so I look at things from a design perspective. I have tremendous respect for Henry Ford. I liked what he did with making the automobile available for the common folk.
I think Ford set the standard for other car-makers to follow. Consequently, Chevy sometimes made a better vehicle because they simply improved from the Ford pattern and provided better styling accoutrement.
Perhaps we could look at which vehicle, Ford or Chevy has held up better over the decades. Just my two cents worth. BTW, I attached two photos. The Red truck is Chevy. The Green truck is my 49 Ford.

Have a 46 1/2 ton with a sbc 400 mill. Have bucket seats on custom rails topping the gas tank, am 5'11" and it is still a tight fit. Thank God for my tilt wheel coming and going.
Not much room in the engine area either, with a 1/2" spacer and flex fan there is less than an inch between the radiator and fan.
BUT, I wouldn't trade my Art Deco Stove Bolt Chevy for any plain ole "Ford".
Just can't beat the style and looks. Now if I could get it to stop the way I want I'll have my bucket list complete.

Some of those factory 426's were good for 600 h.p. That'll clear the cobwebs out of your mufflers!
