4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

Finished the blue print Wednesday on the 360, installed it yesterday, and ran initial break in today! Its an old 1/4 miler, was setting in the woods for 15 years! With 12.3s still on the windows! The old owner died and the family hated the car!!!! The new owner contracted me to do the engine, 4 speed, clutch & pressure plate rear differential, wiring and all repairs other then body work and paint. all I have left to do is install the hood! Its really fun to work on its going back the way it ran in the 70s Accel dual point , supercoil etc etc except for the big demon! it has Detroit Drag Way class winner stickers on it and even a Cheetah Valve body sticker and a Hastings Motor Honey sticker among others! LOL

Got caught in the rain at the Cleveland Tn cruise in. Just got the car cleaned up again. Started packing for the NSRA Nats in Louisville. Leaving Wed morning. My son in law has a '39 Chevy and lives in Nashville but has never made it. Every one needs to go at least once.

I hope I can make it once.

Got out this morning to see if I could get rid of a small vibration the car has around 70mph. Amazing what a few degrees pinion angle adjustment can do. I dropped the ladder bar heims and adjusted the pinion angle up about 3 degrees and went for a test drive.
All the vibration went away, so she's much smoother now!

That is great. Those little vibrations can really ruin a good trip.

I rarely get up around 70 mph, but took a couple recent trips that resulted in higher cruising speeds. I've never had much problem with those phantom vibrations, but had heard that pinion to driveline angle can cause it, so figured it was an easy thing to try. Glad I decided to go adjustable ladder bars and coilovers!

Just out cruisin around today and ran across this restored gas station in a small town close by:

That's a nice restored old '49 Chevy PU in the background! Guy uses the station as his business, but nothing to do with cars or gas. Sells motorcycle accessories. Has an old soda fountain inside restored, but not working.

Started cutting metal in order to build portable hydraulic press. It has to attach horizontally to a backhoe boom. I'm going to try to press the lower pivot pin out of the bottom of the lower boom. Apparently the previous owner of the hoe wasn't quite sure what to do with Zerk fittings. This ought to be fun. I have to assemble it around the boom sideways.

Worked on restoring/custom building a compressor. I have a 2-stage Gardner-Denver compressor pump, a 5 hp Baldor industrial motor and I just scored a new C-h 60 gal tank. Problem is the tank is only certified to 150 psi and the compressor is happiest running around 180-190 PSI (where it can give 17 cfm) , but will have to live with a 140 psi cut-off. Had to make a new mount as the compressor is about twice as wide as the mount on the tank.

Rounding up all the lil doo-dads and thing-a-ma doofuses takes time, but will give me a "live forever" machine with lots of volume etc.

Did some sanding on the firebird. Found out it's a sky bird, which i thought was kinda cool.
Also found out some rust spots o thought were real bad ended up being ver minor. But on the other hand i found rust in places i really hoped there wasn't.
I found out that when the seller said "repaired all rust", it actually means "half the car is full of bondo". Need a front and rear left quarter. Right seemed ok, i'll find out for sure tomorrow. Worst comes to worse i'll need a few small patches but not nearly as bad as the left.

Worked on a "Basics of Basics" on removing weld on panels. And a bunch of yard work. My gas weed whacker bit the dust and I went and bought an electric one, I am damn happy with it.
