I have a 31 chevy coupe that is basically bare. I plan to make a rat rod because I do not have fenders for it. I seem to have the body work figured out but I have no idea what do to the interior. If anyone has any idea what I need to find for seats or how to make door panels or dash ideas let me know.
I used original type wood you can get herehttp://www.chevywood.com/Then I got a roof kit that came with vinyl and sponge separate. I would recommend getting a type that is already together. I used a simple "hide em" strip to cover the brads around the edges. I did not use any chicken wire. Maybe I should have. I see the slats thru the vinyl. So I slid in some heavy cardboard from the inside between the slats and the sponge . That helped a lot.. I did not want the roof to sag so I had added metal angle iron to the wood cross braces. This meant that I could not nail into them for the headliner .
Then I used dynamat like material to hold everything on place.
Next I followed a coupe headliner thread to get the headliner in.
It was a lot of work but came out preety good for me.:welcome:
good choice of cars, I have a 5window coupe and to make it easier to work on the interior I replaced all the wood. I wanted to keep the original look. But it makes it easy to attach wood panels to the doors and roof area. I'm still figuring out the best way to cover the firewall area and all the wire harness. good luck
Thanks for all the help guys. Now I at least have a idea of where to start. I'll try to post some pictures for u guys
