|$chevy$||Yes I like that cam you chose too. I have 08-432-8 that was what AFR suggested I use. I wonder why they didn't chose a cam like the one you chose. The block that I have is a zz350 from gm brand new short block the block I'm sure isn't decked. I think the piston is going to be in the hole somewhat. I drive trucks so I am only home one week out of the month. I was going to keep the heads at 65cc and use a thinner head gasket but AFR recommend not to do that. They said mill the head. I told them what I had. I wonder why gm doesn't deck the block. They use a 0.051 head gasket. I was hoping I could bolt this together this weekend. I allready installed the camshaft and loctite the cam retainer in so comp probably won't return the camshaft.Will I be alright with a high quench I hate to have to disassemble the block to have it decked.|

First you didn't say if the block has been decked. Then I see you have milled the heads. Measure how far the pistons are down in the hole or above the deck of the block. This measurement + the head gasket is your quench. Usually for a street motor you would want .040. This and your compression ratio is what effects what octane of gas you burn. This is how the head gasket thickness is decided. As for valve to piston clearance I would check with modeling clay. You are fine if have .080 clearance on the intake valve and .100 clearance on the exhaust valves. I like the 12-433-8 cam from Comp. Check it out on CamQuest's dyno.

|vinniekq2||always check ptv.That sounds like a nice mild to moderate engine combo. It should be a lot of fun.Hard to say how much power with out knowing what your heads flow at the lift values of your cam.What year Camaro(curious,I like Camaros)|

I have a zz4 shortblock. AFR 1034 milled 60cc. Compcam 510 520 lift with a 282in. 288exh duration at 50. Rpm range 2200 to 5800. Comp 1.52 pro magnum roller rockers. Felpro headgasket 0.041 thick. Is this a good setup going in camaro. What kind of power will this motor make. Will I have any ptv clearance issues with the bigger valves 2.050? Is this a good cam selection for this motor it is a street car. I want to extract the most out of this motor if possible. I don't want any ptv clearance issues. I know this is old news. Everyone is probably building Ls motors now.
This is all new stuff.
