Where is a good place to get a decent starter for a 60's chevy inline 6 cylinder? Are there any reputable business specializing in offering remanufactured units? I am looking for something good, not junk. Prefer to keep my old one and purchase a rebuilt outright.
The current starter works fine. ...........just looks grungy against the engine which I painted a couple of years ago. Yeah, I could take it apart and clean it up some but I am not going to replate anything. I went ahead an bought a rebuilt one from NAPA and it looks great. I applied a satin clear coat to all painted, plated and raw aluminum surfaces so that they stay looking good. I am keeping the old one for future rebuild if necessary.
have napa test and polish the armature, cut the mica out if needed.
install new brushes, bendix and bushings.
and your good for another 30 years
