In school shop the teacher told a couple kids they could reuse lifters, chuck them in the lathe, spin them and polish with 400 paper and oil. I never saw the kids again to see if they had any problems.

the rockers are for his truck motor.
Just check the inside of the rocker arms, if any of them are galled from lack of oil, those should be replaced. Pushrods, as long as they are straight, are fine, make sure they are not plugged up at all.
Follow correct break-in procedure for the new cam, use the right oil with correct levels of ZDDP

If you are indeed building an LS7 there is no budget way to do it. With 12.5 to 1 compression, a .640 lift cam and rectangular heads you'll need some stout pushrods, springs and rockers. Factory low performance stuff won't cut it.
But I digress. With flat tops you're not building an LS7, more like an L36 so the stock stuff should work.

|ssimpala||Depends upon what you're going to use it for. If it's a low RPM truck motor, it will be fine. If you're going to race it, you might want to get new stuff. I've got an old pickup with a junkyard 454 that was built out of three different engines, mix and match parts, and does just fine.|

Used Parts Question
I'm putting a .60 over 45 back together - I bought it running in a 1 ton pickup.
I bought it 3 or so years ago - it ran like a top. In fact, when I pulled the engine & cleaned it up, I found that it had been professionally rebuilt.
When I pulled the valve train apart, I placed the pushrods, rocker arms, raocker balls & nuts together in a ziplock bag. I planned on using new parts when I put everything back together.
No I want to go "budget" on this engine, as I'm building a true LS-7 454 atthe same time.
Can I re-use the pushrods, rocker arms, rocker balls & nutseven though I did not keep them "matched", or am I screwed?
I'm running a Summit Racing 1302 cam & lifters (new) with flat top stock pistons
