Every layer of paint you lay over the tape will add to the thickness AFTER you remove the tape. Also, the paint will "gather" at the tape and create a higher edge then in the middle of the stripe.
I would use single stage and shoot only enough paint to get coverage. After it cures you can sand the edges and polish to reduce the edge thickness.

im not doing an entire paint job
the car is paint already
and the fact than you can feel the stripes , i like its like original ( its for a 72 CUTLASS)

The way I would do it is lay down your base coats first and within the window for applying clear (usually within 24 hours) tape off the stipes and apply base stripe color. Allow base stripe color to flash properly then apply a lite coat of clear overall. Follow with sucessive coats of clear.
If you apply the stripes after applying clear depending on the color you may wind up with a look like the strips are raised off the base.

how to add stripes with bc/cc system
im planning to add stripes on my car , using bc/cc
i would like to get some advise
i know it will be better to spray the base coat , take of the tape and clear the whool panel
but here i would like to know , if i just clear just over the stripes ( and after take of the tape )? m I going to get a sharp line ? a fragil line?
